Kilimanjaro Hike

Mount Kilimanjaro Hike is one of the most thrilling and adventurous activities in the area of mountain climbing in Africa. The snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest and the world’s largest freestanding mountain at 5,895 metres above sea level.

It is among the biggest volcanoes on the planet with three major volcanic centres, Shira which has 4,160 metres, Kibo in the middle with 5,895 metres and Mawenzi 5,149 metres long. Kilimanjaro is climbable any time of the year but climbing is not recommended during the rainy season between mid March to mid June and the period from November to mid December.
6 Days Kilimanjaro Climb: Marangu Route:

Day 1: Arrival
Once you arrive at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be received and taken to your booked hotel. Then you will get briefed on the climb in preparation for the following day. The briefing is done in the evening.

Day 2: Transfer Marangu Gate to start a Hike of Kilimanjaro

After breakfast you will be taken to Marangu Gate (1 860 m), a point from where you commence the climb. It is wise to set off on this for-hour hike as early in the day as you can. The route goes via tangled rain forest to the Mandara Hut at 2 752 m, close to the Maundi Crater. The climb is relatively easy though the road is sometimes slippery. Birds and monkeys are usually seen on the way. Mandara Hut is an attractive and interesting collection of buildings. Dinner and overnight stay at Mandara Hut.

Day 3: Hiking to Horombo

have breakfast and ascend via a short stretch of forest skirting the base of Mundai Crater, emerging into rolling alpine meadows with giant heather trees, and finally arrive at Horombo (3 780 m), which is set in a rocky valley and surrounded by giant lobelia and groundsels.
Dinner and an overnight stay at Horombo hut.

Day 4: Hiking towards Kibo Hut

after breakfast in the morning, you will continue along one of two trails to the saddle and on to Kibo Hut (4 740 m), which is approximately a six-hour walk into the lunar landscape of the desert area. The landscape becomes very stony and eroded, spectacular mountain vegetation like the giant cactus, groundswell and lobelia are seen on the way.
You will have your dinner and overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 5: Gilman’s Point

Wake up at midnight for anything to eat and move on to the summit through Gilman’s point and you accomplish the demanding five hours in the dark. As the sun rises, you should be at Gillman’s Point on the edge of the crater. A further hour along the crater’s rim takes you to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5 895 m. You will then very clear and wonderful r views, beautiful ice formations and a successful feel of accomplishment and satisfaction in hitting this mighty peak. The descent is much quicker.
Have dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 6: Descent from Horombo hut,

Get breakfast in the morning; descend from Horombo hut to Marangu Gate. Final walk to the park gate, where you will be met and transferred back to your hotel or dropped to the airport to catch up your next flight. End of the Kilimanjari Hike tour.
